Kelly Pendergrass Hunter has spent her entire career in the courtroom, fighting for clients with a blend of sharp legal skill and unwavering determination. Her primary focus is domestic relations—including contested and uncontested divorces, paternity actions, custody disputes, contested and uncontested adoptions, and wills and estates. Alongside her family law practice, she’s also taken on significant civil litigation work, handling personal injury cases, premises liability claims, and corporate defense. Kelly is admitted to practice in all Mississippi state and federal courts, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Kelly is a lifelong Jackson County resident with deep roots in the community she serves. She graduated with Highest Honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, then earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001, graduating Cum Laude.
From the start, Kelly immersed herself in the legal community, serving as Secretary and Vice-President of the Jackson County Bar Association and maintaining membership in the Harrison County Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar, the American Bar Association, and the Young Lawyers Division. Her professional respect extends beyond the bar - Kelly has been entrusted by the courts to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem, representing the best interests of children in sensitive domestic cases, and was appointed as the Jackson County Guardian Ad Litem for Indigents.
Her dedication has earned her peer recognition, including being named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in Family Law in 2012 and honored as one of the Top 10 under 40 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys in 2014.
Beyond her legal work, Kelly is deeply committed to her community. She has served with the Pascagoula-Moss Point Junior Auxiliary in multiple leadership roles and volunteered as a Mock Trial Team Advisor for Gautier High School. She’s also a devoted mother to two boys and an active member of First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs.
Kelly’s approach is a perfect mis of zealous advocate and Southern belle, earning her the nickname, Sugarbaker, among her friends.
She’s also a devoted wife, mother to two boys, and “Lovey.”
